Assistance Mobilization Group
Assistance Mobilization
Group was established in September 1995 at the OIC
Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as an act of solidarity of the
OIC member countries with Bosnia and Herzegovina and its peoples.
OIC member countries have
supported Bosnia and Herzegovina unconditionally in the struggle to preserve
its sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
OIC member countries have
given a strong support to the reconstruction of the country and reestablishing
of the day-to-day life through both governmental and non-governmental programs.
OIC member countries have
participated in the cultural revival of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the post-war
period by assisting a large number of projects concerning culture and education.
AMG B&H is an open-ended group based on a goodwill of the sisterly
countries, members of the OIC.
Therefor its membership varies from one meeting to another. Current Chair of
the AMG B&H is Pakistan.
AMG B&H has held eight (8) meetings so far.
AMG B&H is an instrument of the OIC
for cooperation and assistance
which has two key objectives:
- Promotion and streamlining of all possible forms of mutually
advantageous cooperation between OIC
member countries and Bosnia and Herzegovina (economic, commercial, financial,
scientific, technological and technical cooperation) on bilateral and/or multilateral
level
- Assisting the most vulnerable social categories in Bosnia and Herzegovina-
refugees and displaced persons- by providing the means for their return to their
homes of origin
The key words "mobilization of assistance" practically mean:
- With their troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina, OIC
countries have been
a factor of peace in B&H
- Contributing additional aid to B&H, OIC
countries have been feeding
gaps in the international assistance by reacting to the prior needs of
B&H
- In a very close cooperation with the Government and local authorities of B&H,
their assistance has reached most needed population
- Opening possibilities for the partnership, economic and commercial relations
with Bosnian companies, they help the process of
diversification of Bosnian relations with the World
Redefining of the AMG B&H mandate
9th Islamic Summit Conference recognized that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
has been improved in many aspects, although there is still much to be done to
normalize the situation fully.
It also recognized that the AMG B&H has fulfilled its mission as such, and
approved to redefine the mandate of the AMG B&H.
AMG B&H is going to focus its activities in the area of economic cooperation
between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the OIC
member countries.
Regarding this recommendation, OIC
member states will assist and mobilize the economic, technological, educational
and other important partners to meet, exchange views or any form of cooperation,
to work together on joint projects- joint ventures with the firms or associations
from both OIC countries
and B&H and from all over the world.
The AMG is an instrument for broadening of mutual understanding among the OIC
and B&H, aiming at stimulating cooperation between the OIC
member countries and institutions and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also to review
the existing bilateral and multilateral assistance of the OIC
to B&H.
